Chiropractic
A chiropractor is a healthcare professional specialising in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the spine and musculoskeletal system. Using a hands-on approach, chiropractors provide non-invasive, drug-free therapies to alleviate pain, improve function, and enhance overall health.
Chiropractors provide a holistic approach to health, focusing on the root cause of pain and discomfort rather than just the symptoms. Whether you're dealing with back pain, neck pain, headaches, or sports injuries, chiropractors offer personalised care tailored to your specific needs.
Podiatry/Chiropody
Podiatry is a specialised area of healthcare focused on the diagnosis, treatment and management of lower limb and foot and ankle problems.
When foot and ankle problems arise, they can impact your quality of life, leading to pain, discomfort, and limited movement. Podiatrists help to keep you active and healthy by addressing these issues with expertise and personalised care. All our podiatrists are HCPC registered.
Common conditions treated by podiatrists:
Heel Pain and Plantar Fasciitis: Inflammation and pain in the heel and bottom of the foot.
Bunions and Hammertoes: Deformities of the toes causing pain and difficulty in wearing shoes.
Diabetic Foot Care: Specialised care to prevent and treat foot complications associated with diabetes.
Ingrown Toenails: Nails that grow into the skin, causing pain and infection.
Skin and Nail Conditions: Fungal infections, verrucae, corns, and calluses.
Nail Surgery
Nail surgery is a permanent solution for painful ingrowing toenails. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic by one of our highly trained podiatrists, ensuring your comfort throughout. If you’ve been struggling with an ingrowing toenail for some time or experience recurring toenail infections, this treatment could be the long-term answer you’ve been looking for.
Type of surgery available
There are two types of nail surgery for toenails: partial nail removal and full nail removal.
Most people who require nail surgery will have a partial nail removal. This involves removing a thin section of the nail where it is digging into the surrounding skin. Once the area has healed, the nail will look very similar to how it did before the procedure.
A full nail removal is usually reserved for more severe cases or when the nail bed has been damaged.
Nail surgery is covered by most health insurance schemes, including Westfield Health.
Price and what is included
The total price for toenail removal (partial or full) is £350 for one nail and £100 per additional nail.
This price includes:
• A pre-surgery assessment appointment (must be booked prior to the procedure)
• A redressing appointment (must be booked for the day after surgery)
• A two-week follow-up appointment
• A home care pack, including dressings and antimicrobial spray
• Additional follow up appointments are charged at £25.
How to book.
• The first appointment you will need is a nail surgery assessment appointment. During this visit, your podiatrist will discuss the procedure in detail, including aftercare at home. A full medical history will be taken, and vascular and blood pressure tests will be carried out to ensure the procedure is safe for you.
• If you are certain that you require nail surgery (partial or full nail removal), please book a nail surgery assessment appointment either online or by calling 0114 247 8674. The assessment costs £50, which will be deducted from the total surgery price.
• If you are unsure whether nail surgery is the right treatment for you, our podiatrists are happy to arrange a free-of-charge telephone consultation to answer any questions you may have. Please call 0114 247 8674 to arrange this.
• If you require urgent surgery or are unable to find a suitable assessment appointment, please contact the clinic on 0114 247 8674, and we may be able to accommodate you.
